Beckenham man crowned London Plumber of the Year

A Beckenham plumber has been crowned the London regional winner in a national trade competition.

James Elmy was named the London regional winner of the UK Plumber of the Year 2018 competition and will now go through to the national finals which take place today, with prizes worth £10,000 up for grabs.

Following a round of public voting for the 18 selected finalists, James was one of six plumbers across the country to have received the most votes, crowning him the top plumber in the capital.

Now in its fourth year, the UK Plumber of the Year 2018 competition, which was launched by JT, Bristan and Wolseley UK, is designed to reward and recognise the talent within the UK plumbing industry and asks entrants to demonstrate their plumbing, service and business skills.

Each finalist will now attend an interview session where they will look to impress the judging panel, made up of experts from JT, Bristan, Wolseley UK and Watersafe, who will then decide the overall winner.

James Elmy said: “London is such a vast area, it’s brilliant to be recognised as winning the regional final. This has made my year considering I’ve only been self-employed since January 2018. I look forward to the interview stage and will give it my best to win the UK Plumber of the Year title.”

John Schofield, sales and marketing director of JT, added: “Congratulations to James on making it through to the final stage. We’ve had a record number of entrants this year so to make it this far is a great achievement. We look forward to meeting James and our other five finalists before crowning this year’s Plumber of the Year.”
