Beckenham RFC – February column

Exciting times at Beckenham Rugby Football Club. We sit proudly on top of London Two South East with the potential prize of promotion to London One South within our control.

Hard work, humility and honesty are the foundation of our playing success this season and we have more hard work in the weeks ahead if we’re to achieve our full potential.

Social highlight of the month was the inaugural Burns Night Supper.  The Scottish Bard was honoured with the Address to the Haggis and Tam O Shanter, passionate renditions of Holy Willies Prayer and To A Mouse, the memorial speech and the toasts to the Lassies and Laddies.

The cultural fayre was matched by the culinary; haggis, neeps and tatties followed by cranachan and washed down with beer, wine and single malt. Robert Burns would have been proud of us. He would have been less proud of the dancing that followed.

We’re always on the look-out for new players as we want to share our great game and the fantastic facilities on offer at Beckenham RFC.

Whether you’re two or 52 there’s a team for you. Please do get in touch with us either through the website or at senior training on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7.30-9) or youth training on Sunday from 10am. We would love to meet you.

We’re 125 October 19 and to ensure we’re around for another 125 we’ve embarked on a build to improve our facilities. We’ve launched the fundraising effort and on April 6 we’re holding a charity auction at the clubhouse on Balmoral Avenue, Beckenham, BR3 3RD at 5pm.

If you would like to donate a prize / make a donation please get in touch with us at 125@beckenhamrfc.com. We are Beckenham RFC, the Blue and Gold. One Club, Our Club.
