Beckenham RFC – August Column

There really is no rest of the wicked. We’re only just past the Summer solstice, festival dwellers are just getting started but the senior men and ladies are already lacing up their boots and putting the hard yards into pre-season training.

This year our men’s 1st XV will be gracing London 1 South, the sixth tier of English rugby while our Ladies will be in their respective third tier. If effort alone brought rewards we’d already be champions! Can’t wait to see rugby back at the Avenue; roll on September!

This season is special. On October 19, we will have been serving the Beckenham community their rugby fare for 125 years. As well as the senior section we have a flourishing junior section serving all age groups from our under 5s all the way up to our Academy under 18s; boys and girls, men and ladies, enjoying the greatest game on earth.

To ensure we’re around for another 125 years we’re extending the car park, building a new kitchen, players dining room and, in the future, a members gym. We already provide the best facilities and coaching. This build will ensure we maintain this standard whilst keeping the membership subscriptions the lowest in London and the South East.

The club re-opens for business on September 1 with the rest Sunday training for the Youth and Minis (details of the summer camp below). If your son or daughter wants to get active and play rugby come down to Balmoral Avenue and give the club a try, you will love it!

Check our website for upcoming events, such Gingo (combining gin tasting and bingo) on Friday, September 6. A big shout out also for the Beckenham Rugby Cyclists (the most welcoming cycling club for miles around). Do check out their website for details of rides from our club – as they cater for all ages and abilities. Finally, we host the  5th Beckenham Half Marathon (in aid of Action Against Cancer) on Sunday, September 15.

We are the best community club, we are the Blue and Gold Family; we are Beckenham RFC.
