Mum and baby fitness class a hit with local parents

A local woman who set out on a mission to help support new mums and mums-to-be regain their fitness has seen her pre and post-natal exercise programme go from strength to strength.

The Me and My Baby programme was set up by Mickey Wells with the assistance of friend Jo Nicoll in September 2017 at the Spa Leisure Centre in Beckenham and is now being rolled out across the wider Bromley borough.

The pair run a variety of exercise and fitness classes for mums and their babies, meaning there is no need for parents to worry about childcare or finding a babysitter.

Mickey told News in Beckenham: “It’s such a community and provides a great support network. We have a good connection with the mums and it provides a social outlet for them as well as a physical one.

“Our primary concern is always the welfare of our mums and our classes provide a safe space for people to talk and share advice. It has also helped a number of people with post-natal depression.”

One mum, Sarah Amores, said: “Despite regularly attending gym classes prior to and during my pregnancy 12 weeks post C-Section, I felt totally unprepared for the physical and emotional changes that came with having a baby.

“Baby Boogie and Post Natal Fitness quickly became part of my routine, allowing me to make friends with other mums whilst building up my strength and confidence, without sacrificing those precious moments with my son.”

Classes include Baby Boogie, Post Natal Yoga, HIIT Training, Baby Bops and Hypno Birthing. The classes welcome children from six weeks old up to the age of eight. For more information contact Mickey on: Michaela.wells@mytimeactive.co.uk
