Residents to help define Ageing Well strategy

Bromley Council and NHS Bromley CCG are calling on residents to give them their views on ageing in the borough

Bromley Council and NHS Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have teamed up to call on Beckenham residents to give them their views on ageing in the borough.

All views captured will be collated and used to help build a ‘Strategy for Ageing Well in Bromley’.

The strategy will look at future population trends across the borough for people aged 65 and over as well as consider the type of support needed to help them live as happily, healthily and independently as possible.

Residents are being asked about what sort of experiences and services they value, what is important to them right now and what else they think they might need as they move into older age?

Residents can fill in the survey online and there will also be face-to-face sessions around the borough. To view the survey, which runs until August 26, or to find out more information visit www.bromley.gov.uk/ageingwell.

Councillor Diane Smith, executive member for adult care and health, said: “We are working to join up our health and social care services to support better the future needs of our ageing population in Bromley.  We want to be sure that we design the right kind of support to reflect people’s changing needs as well as make sure as far as possible that people know what is out there to help them lead long and enjoyable lives.”

Dr Andrew Parson, Bromley CCG’s clinical chair and local GP, added: “Working together with colleagues at the council we started to develop the Strategy for Ageing Well in Bromley in early 2018 by spending time with local residents and professionals to understand what it is like to get older in Bromley. The views gathered gave us an idea of what residents would expect to see in the strategy and how we should involve local people in its development.”
