E-fit released of attempted child abduction suspect

An e-fit has been released by the police following the attempted abduction on March 5

Police investigating the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl have released an e-fit image of the suspect.

Police were called to Beckenham Lane, near Valley Primary School, at 9.35am on March 5 following reports that a bearded man in a dark-coloured vehicle had attempted to entice a Year 6 pupil into his vehicle. The girl in question ran away.

The suspect has been described as a white man, aged in his early 40s. He is believed to have been wearing a light brown blazer, white shirt, orange tie, grey trousers and black shoes.

Detective Sergeant Gary Bladon, from Bromley CID, said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure the public that incidents like this are few and far between and do not happen often.

“We now have an e-fit of the suspect and would urge anyone who recognises the man to contact us as soon as possible. He was wearing distinctive clothing which may jog people’s memories.

“Likewise if you were in the surrounding area and think you saw this man or a vehicle fitting this description, please contact police on 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

So far no arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing.
