The wild swimming lake at Beckenham Place Park is due to open next week when government lockdown restrictions on organised sports are eased.

Capacity will be limited to a total of 60 people and there will be no spectators or dogs allowed around the water.

The online booking system works on a seven-day rolling week, meaning residents can book a swim up to a week beforehand. Bookings are now open, and you can book your swimming slot here.

The lake will be open from 7am to 3pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 8am to 3pm on the weekends.

A notice on the PTP Coaching website, the company which manages the lake, states that the lake temperature is currently at 9°C. A winter swim induction is mandatory when the lake temperature is below 14°C and these can be booked online as well. PTP Coaching also strongly recommend that swimmers wear a wet suit when the lake is below 14°C.

A company spokesperson said: “We are very much looking forward to seeing you all again taking part in lake activities.”
