Beckenham RFC – December column

In October Beckenham RFC celebrated their 125th year in style. We welcomed a French visiting side, had stellar performances from our teams and even hosted a lunch for 145 members.

Local band ‘The Love Handles’ provided amazing live entertainment and club members danced the night away. At the end of an amazing weekend, we had made over £25,000 towards the club extension.

A huge thank you to all the local businesses who donated auction and raffle prizes. Looking forward, our next big event is our annual Christmas Draw on December 15, which will include a raffle, auction and Santa Dash this year. Come down and watch the regular games of rugby or even for our high quality pre-match lunch (visit www.beckenhamrfc.com for details of all upcoming matches and events).

On the playing front, the Ladies and Girls teams are flourishing and deserve a spotlight. On November 24, Beckenham Ladies took on local rivals Old Ethamians Ladies and won a landslide victory.

Continuing their winning streak, this win included a solid six tries through the game from the outside centre, Chloe Graves. During the game Beckenham powered up the centre with the pack, creating the space to whip the ball out wide and tear through the OEs backline. Despite tough defence from OE’s, Beckenham crossed the line twelve times with conversions from fly-half Bree Hill and full-back Beth Pickers. Score at full-time: 70-0.
