Beckenham Baby Café fundraising to help secure future

The excellent Beckenham Baby Café, which offers vital free support and information for pregnant and breastfeeding mums and their families, is looking to raise £750 to help secure its future.

The invaluable free-of-charge support group, which is run by local mum and NCT breastfeeding counsellor Kate Cameron, is open to all and has been generously funded by Bromley Healthcare Charity grants for the past five years.

Face-to-face café meetings, which are normally held at the Neighbourhood Church on Cromwell Road, have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak but the Beckenham Baby Café is still providing support via phone and virtually through Zoom on Monday afternoons.

The fundraising appeal JustGiving page states: “If you have benefitted from the warm welcome, refreshments and homemade cakes, compassionate breastfeeding support and evidence-based information, please help to secure the future of Baby Café Beckenham.

“Our mission is to continue to support all families with babies in Beckenham and the surrounding areas, offering free breastfeeding support and information, a safe friendly environment with parent to parent support and delicious homemade cakes. Your donation, however small, would be hugely appreciated to supplement our next grant application.”

Local residents and Beckenham Café users have praised the service with one saying, “Baby Café is a fundamental support for families and was a key help for our three kids – many thanks and long may it continue”, while another added “hope the Beckenham Baby Cafe is there for years to come, such a great resource for new parents.”

More than £175 has so far been raised of the £750 target. To help support this fantastic free-to-use service, you can donate via the JustGiving page at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/babycafebeckenham
