Grade II listed Chinese Garage opens as Majestic Wine store

Chinese Garage becomes Majestic Wine store

Beckenham’s Grade II listed Chinese Garage, which was originally built in 1928, has now opened as a Majestic Wine store.

Designed by Edmund B. Clarke and known locally as the Chinese Garage, the site was most recently a Kia and Peugeot dealership.

Majestic Wine cut the ribbon on the brand-new store on South Eden Park Road last month, marking the wine specialist chain’s 199th store – with the firm’s landmark 200th store opening shortly afterwards in Henley.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the new Beckenham branch will have a limit on the number of in-store customers. However, there will be free delivery and click and collection services are also available.

John Colley, CEO of Majestic Wine, said: “I’m delighted to be opening two new Majestic stores this month and I’m sure our customers – both new and existing – will enjoy the revamped Majestic experience. These are two locations we’ve had our eyes on for some time.

“We’ve been able to adapt throughout 2020 across all our stores in the UK, and I have no doubt our teams will do the same in their new locations. Whatever we can do this winter, whether it’s free local delivery or expert advice on the end of the phone or in-store, they will be on hand.”
